To begin our exciting day tour, hike or adventure to Lake Humantay or Laguna Humantay from Cusco, we will pick you up from your hotel at 4:00 am, very early in the morning to avoid the crowds at the beautiful Lake Humantay.

Then, we will begin driving in our spacious and comfortable private van for approximately 2.5 hours along the Cusco-Mollepata route, passing through small towns and communities such as Izcuchaca, Limatambo, and heading towards Mollepata, where we will stop for breakfast.

After breakfast, we will continue our trip for another hour in our transportation; The road we will take is a dirt road (trail) to Soraypampa, which is located in the lush valley of the Apurimac River and at an altitude of 3900 meters above sea level (12,795 feet), where we will begin our walk through Lake Humantay.

Soraypampa has the added benefit of being a privileged location from where we can appreciate the majestic Salkantay Mountain (6270 m / 20,571 ft), the second highest mountain in Cusco.
Once we arrive at the beginning of the trail through the Humantay lagoon; If the sky is clear enough, you will begin to feel the powerful presence of the impressive snow-capped Salkantay and Humantay, as well as being impressed by their haunting snowy faces that defy any force or evil.

After listening to brief instructions from your guide and preparing for the short hike to Humantay Lagoon! We will begin our ascent towards the beautiful Laguna Humantay and it will take us about an hour and a half to two. The first 45 minutes are of fairly moderate difficulty, but then the trail becomes steeper during the second half and as we approach Humantay Lagoon.

Finally, we will reach Humantay Lake in Peru (4,230 m / 13,878 ft), which shines in the Andes mountain range like an emerald jewel. Here you will have plenty of time to enjoy this natural wonder in all its splendor, as well as to enjoy the views in quiet contemplation.

This beautiful and tranquil turquoise and emerald Humantay Lake is truly a stunning lake, hidden amongst the rocky landscape, offering tourists an all-encompassing and stunning landscape; and this day hike is an easy way to take it in.

On our Humantay Lake tour, we also have the opportunity to explore the area a little more, walking uphill for about 15 minutes to reach another viewpoint with even more spectacular views of the Humantay Lagoon, as well as the impressive Apu Humantay mountain. (5480m / 17,979 ft).

After enjoying the beauty of nature on this day trip to Lake Humantay and some free time, we will begin our hike back to Soraypampa, where our day hike began. In Soraypampa or in the town of Mollepata we will enjoy lunch. After lunch, our private transportation will take us back to the city of Cusco, ending our 1-day hike to Humantay Lagoon, at approximately 6:30 p.m. with a transfer to your hotel.

Information Before leaving for the Humantay Lake Full Day Tour

We want to make your trip to Peru as memorable and easy as possible. In this section you will find quick answers to all those questions you had about Humantay Lake Full Day Tour in one place. Please read the following information carefully; will help you with any questions about our services.

Briefing or informative meeting

All briefings take place at your hotel at 6:30 p.m., one night before the tour begins. If you cannot attend, you must coordinate another schedule at the (Peru Travel Luxury) offices. These meetings last approximately 30 to 45 minutes and there they will give you a small canvas bag, in which you will store all the belongings that you intend to take on the walk and that will not be in your backpack.

Payment of Trek Balance (in Cusco)

The trek has to be paid for in full by at least 7.30 pm two days before departure. For example, if your tour departs on a Wednesday, then you must come to our office before 7.30 pm on Monday.

It would be much appreciated if you pay the trek balance in cash US dollars or local currency. You can withdraw some money from several ATMs along Avenida Sol (either in US dollars or local Peruvian Soles). You can pay by credit card or PAYPAL online, but you will have to pay an 8% service charge, charged by VISA and PAYPAL. We do not accept bank checks or payment of the balance by traveler’s checks.

Storing your luggage at our Office.

Of course! During the travel, your main luggage can be stored at our office(you can organize briefing day or by email) or at your hotel, both free of charge.

Any equipment that you are not going to need on the trek can be stored safely in your hotel. Nearly every hotel will provide this service. Don’t leave items of value with your bags, put them in the hotel safe and obtain an itemized receipt (In the unlikely case of theft many insurance companies require that you have a copy of the receipt itemizing all the items). Best put items such as credit cards inside a sealed, signed envelope for extra peace of mind.

Pickups:

Peru Travel Luxury company can pick you up from your hotel, as long as it’s in the Historic Center of Cusco. The pickup time will be coordinated with your guide in the briefing. The pickup time may vary between 30 and 45 minutes due to traffic. Cusco is a very old city, therefore, it has many narrow cobbled streets. Some hotels and Airbnbs may be located on streets without access to cars or on long, steep slopes, making it difficult to transport luggage. We strongly recommend that you book accommodation with good access.

Group tours:

Group tours are made up of different types of people. Physical conditions and ages can vary. By agreeing to be part of a group tour, you also accept that some people may be faster or slower than you. Therefore, each person can go at their own pace on the route. It may be the case that a group wishes to modify the tour; however, it will be the guide who decides, after consulting with all the participants, if said modifications can be made.

Strikes and demonstrations:

Strikes and demonstrations are usually frequent in Peru and this may interrupt some of our tours. Roads can be blocked and train tracks can be taken over. However, we will try to keep your excursion as planned, even if it means leaving the night before the scheduled date. Under these circumstances, tours may also be cancelled. In case of changes or cancellations, all situations will be coordinated with you by our operations department. Your safety is our highest priority and our decisions will be made to protect it.

Lost objects:

You’re responsible for your objects during the tour. Please pay attention to where you leave your things and remember to take everything once you leave our trucks, tents, or restaurants.

Couple Traveller

My friends and I hired Peru Travel Luxury for a tour to Laguna Humantay, and everything was great, the service was first class, they took great care of us. Our guide Mario was excellent! He was very attentive to all the details, the driver Mr. Jhon was also very attentive and an excellent driver, and very punctual to pick us up at the meeting point. The tour is incredible and worth the experience, whether walking to the place or renting a horse. It’s amazing the experience you get after this hike. Arriving at Humantay Lagoon leaves you speechless when you see its crystalline waters and its imposing snow-capped peak.
